Transport Definition
In logistics, transportation is the movement of goods between locations. Transportation is a key component of supply chain management.
There are three primary methods of transportation: ground, air, and water. Ground transport includes rail, road, and pipeline. Air transport includes both passenger and cargo airlines. Water transport includes maritime shipping through canals, rivers, lakes, and oceans.
Intermodal transport refers to the movement of goods using multiple modes of transportation. This could include a combination of ground and air transport, or ground and water transport.
