What Are The Five Categories Of Supply Chain Processes

When it comes to procurement, there are five main categories of supply chain processes that must be accurately managed in order to ensure optimal efficiency. The first is demand planning, which involves forecasting customer demand for a certain product or service. The second is purchasing and sourcing, which includes researching vendors, negotiating prices and placing orders. Thirdly, we have inventory control and management; this requires close monitoring of both incoming and outgoing supplies. Fourthly, there’s distribution and transport; this involves finding the most efficient way to fulfill customer orders. Finally, there’s supply chain security, which focuses on ensuring that all products and services remain protected from potential threats. Together, these five categories make up the official definition of what a successful supply chain should look like!
