An MRO buyer is a procurement professional responsible for negotiating and sourcing materials, parts, tools, equipment and services that are used to maintain and repair a business’s operating assets. This type of buyer is focused on the purchase and procurement of goods and services necessary to keep the organization running, but not related to core products or services. MRO buyers must have a comprehensive understanding of the entire supply chain, from product trends and suppliers to logistical challenges. They must also be able to negotiate competitive pricing and terms as well as maintain supplier relationships for future purchasing needs.
