Data Processing Agreement

Data Processing Agreement

A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is a contract between a data controller and a data processor that sets out their respective roles and responsibilities in relation to the processing of personal data.

The DPA will typically identify the personal data to be processed, the purposes for which it will be processed, the duration of the processing, and the security measures to be implemented by the data processor.

A DPA is an important element of any organization’s compliance with data protection legislation, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It helps to ensure that personal data is processed in a manner that is consistent with the rights of individuals under data protection law.
