Expression Of Interest

An expression of interest (EOI) is a document that prospective suppliers use to let procurement know they are interested in bidding for a particular upcoming project. The EOI should be short and concise, and it should highlight the organization’s strengths in relation to the project.

Procurement may use an EOI to screen potential suppliers before issuing a formal request for proposal (RFP). An EOI can also help Procurement save time by weeding out poor fits before going through the full RFP process.

When writing an EOI, be clear about your organization’s qualifications and capabilities. There is no need to go into great detail at this stage; simply identify yourself as a potential supplier and provide some basic information about your company. You should also include a timeframe for when you would be able to complete the project, if awarded the contract.

If you are responding to an RFP, read it carefully before starting your EOI. In many cases, the RFP will provide specific instructions on what information you need to include in your EOI. Following these instructions will give you a better chance of having your EOI accepted and progressing to the next stage of the procurement process.
