Over Ojeu

The term ‘over-OJEU’ is used to describe the value of a procurement contract that exceeds the European Union (EU) threshold for OJEU public contracts. In the UK, the current OJEU threshold is £4,551,413 (excluding VAT).

The benefits of procuring above the OJEU threshold include:

• increased competition – more suppliers are likely to be interested in bidding for a contract above the OJEU threshold than one that falls below it;

• greater flexibility – over-OJEU procurements are not subject to as many EU rules and regulations as those that fall within the threshold, giving contracting authorities more scope to tailor the procurement to their specific requirements;

• faster timelines – over-Ojeu procurements can be completed more quickly than those that are subject to full OJEU procedures.
