Logistics is the process of planning, implementing and controlling efficient and effective flow of goods, services and related information from the point of origin to the point of consumption in order to meet customers’ requirements. It involves all activities that are required to achieve this goal, though not all activities are necessarily included in the definition. Logistics does not typically involve manufacturing or design processes that generate products – those activities are taken care of before the product gets into logistics. Logistics also usually excludes matters related to marketing, such as setting prices and conducting market research.
