Green Supply Chain Definition
The term “green supply chain” has come to mean a lot of different things to different people. In general, a green supply chain is one that is designed and operated in a way that minimizes the negative impact on the environment. This can include everything from the sourcing of raw materials to the disposal of finished products.
There are many different ways to make a supply chain more environmentally friendly. Some companies focus on reducing energy consumption and emissions throughout their operations. Others work on improving the recyclability or biodegradability of their products. And still others focus on choosing suppliers who have strong environmental records themselves.
No matter what approach a company takes, there are always opportunities to make their supply chain more sustainable. By definition, a green supply chain is one that is constantly evolving as new technologies and processes are developed. As our understanding of the environment improves, so too will our ability to protect it.
