Ean/Ucc Standards Definition
The EAN/UCC Standards are a set of international standards for electronic data interchange (EDI) and barcoding. They are maintained by the GS1, a not-for-profit organization that provides global standards for business communications.
The EAN/UCC Standards define the format and content of EDI messages exchanged between businesses. They also specify how barcodes should be used to encode data for automated data capture (ADC). The standards are used by businesses of all sizes, in all industries, in over 150 countries around the world.
The EAN/UCC Standards are developed through a consensus-based process, involving representatives from businesses, standards organizations, and governments. New or revised standards are published periodically in the GS1 General Specifications.
