Operational Level Definition

The operational level is the second lowest level of military command and control. It is a division of an organization that is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the organization. The operational level is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s goals are met.

The operational level consists of three main divisions:

1. The planning division is responsible for developing and implementing plans to achieve the organization’s goals.

2. The execution division is responsible for carrying out the plans developed by the planning division.

3. The support division is responsible for providing support to the other two divisions.

The operational level is overseen by the senior leadership of the organization, who set the goals that the operational level must achieve. The operational level has a great deal of autonomy in how it carries out its activities, but it must ultimately answer to the senior leadership.
